Alice Norton's proclivity for writing was recognized while she was in high school, the editor of the school's paper. In adulthood, while working as an editor, she wrote several short stories and her first book, Ralestone Luck. Norton wrote under the pen name, "Andre" Alice Norton, to increase her probability of connecting with the male dominated fantasy fiction fan base. Her career was extensive with a total of over 100 novels and stories. Norton was nominated for the Hugo Award a few times as well as the World Fantasy Award for her lifetime achievements.
A first edition signed copy of Norton'sOperation Time Search published in 1967 by Harcourt, Brace and World, Inc., in New York sold for $1,135 through Heritage Auctions. Likewise, hard cover, signed first edition copies of The Witch World Series (Witch World; Web of the Witch World; Three Against the Witch World; Warlock of the Witch World; Sorceress of the Witch World; Year of the Witch World; andSpell of the Witch World) sold for $1,015.7 in 2011.
