Unclipped DJ (Pulitzer Prize Edition $3.50) with chips to head (5 x 16 cm), tail (6 x 1 x 2 cm), edges (several 1cm) and corners (1cm all) of spine, in Mylar.

Description: This Edition is Limited to 770 copies. Original greenish cloth, title in gilt to spine and front (still bright), no wear to the ends and corners. Top edge bright gilt, others uncut. No names or writing on the color illustrated end papers or in the text. Signed by Rawlings and Wyeth on Limitation page. Scribner seal and letter "A" on copyright page. Slipcase showing wear to ends and corners, tape repair to closed top corner, no chemise. 400 numbered pages, clean and tight in the binding. A line was missing on page 196 (between lines 5 and 6). This copy has the corrected pages. Illustrated with 16 full page colored plates by N. C. Wyeth, two of which are charcoal and wash. Also included is a facsimile of a 2 page letter by Wyeth discussing the book (not present in the trade edition).

This young adult novel about a young boy living in the Florida backwoods in the 1870's, and a fawn he has lovingly raised as a pet, won the 1939 Pulitzer Prize for the Novel; illustrated by Wyeth with fourteen color and two black and white plates of drawings, as well as a [2] pp. facsimile letter from Wyeth; internally the book is fine. The condition of the book is FINE. The condition of the paper chemise is NEAR FINE. The condition of the slipcase is VERY GOOD +. All enclosed in a gilt tooled quarter morocco solander box made by Asprey. SCARCE; especially in such wonderful condition.

The remaining 250 copies were bound in a darker blue cloth but do NOT contain the errors found in the first 520 copies like this one. This Limited Edition includes the facsimile letter to Chaplin by Wyeth and 2 additional illustrations. The book is in great shape and appears unread. The binding is tight with NO leaning or cocking.
