Octavo; viii, 264pp. Publisher's mustard cloth with brown and green rules and lettering, housed in brown paper-covered slipcase with "137" on spine panel. Top edge gilt. Boards are square and sharp, with spine cloth very slightly dulled. Binding is sound and pages unmarked. Slipcase is sturdy and solid with light shelfwear. Caldwell's second collection of short stories, published a year after his novel Tobacco Road.

Description: 1933 Viking TRUE FIRST EDITION of one of Caldwell's 2 classic American works. A very RARE and excellent copy in NF/Fair condition. With a **SIGNED** Bookplate and photo laid in! The HB has black boards with bright orange printing and green and orange lines on the cover and spine. The interior is very clean, tight and unmarked. The only marks are some foxing spots on the top stain. The unclipped DJ ( $ 2.50) is in FAIR only condition and is missing the top half of the spine. Otherwise there are minor nicks and wear and we have repaired and now protected in mylar.
