Rankin, Ian. WATCHMAN. ***SIGNED U.K. FIRST EDITION - RARE***. The Bodley Head, 1988.

Price: US$323.40 + shipping

Condition: Near Fine

Description: First edition, first printing. SIGNED to title-page. An attractive copy of Rankin's desirable and scarce third novel. A stand-alone, espionage spy thriller from the Scottish crime writer, and a compelling venture outside the Rebus world. A Near Fine copy, lightly bumped to one corner, cheap paper browning (as usual), and with some light, scattered spots of ageing to front and rear end-papers. Overall, a solid and clean copy in above average preservation. The dust-wrapper, correctly priced at the first state "£10.95", is a lovely one indeed, and comfortably graded as at least Fine. Unusually, the typical spine fading (to the red book title) is wholly absent in this bright and excellent example. A nice copy of an increasingly tough to find early Rankin.
