"John Joseph Mathews (November 16, 1894 – June 16, 1979) (Osage) became one of the Osage Nation's most important spokespeople and writers, and served on the Osage Tribal Council during the 1930s., Wahkontah was author's first book. Description: Very good minus condition hardcover copy of the first edition, 1932. Orange covers show some reading/handling wear and the dustjacket, now in mylar, has edge wear and one small piece missing at top back side and one at bottom back side. SIGNED by the author with a warm inscription to "W.S." who is Walter Stanley Campbell, Stanley Vestal.
