"This edition is limited to 780 sets for the United States of America, of which 750 are for sale and 30 for presentation. This is no. 45" (Number is handwritten). Vol. 1 is signed by John Galsworthy in blue ink below limitation information. Sepia photograph by E. O. Hoppe of author posed with his dogs is mounted ahead of limitation page. Hardcovers have green half-cloth binding with light green paper-covered boards and paper spine labels with dark green lettering. Spare spine label tipped in at rear of each volume. Decorative endpapers. All edges deckle. All volumes have tissued frontispiece, 27 of them photogravures of drawings by R. H. Sauter. Printed on paper made with a circular watermark of JG monogram. Vol. 1 has tipped in pamphlet: "John Galsworthy: a Sketch of His Life and Works". Charles Scribner's Sons, 1922. A few vols. Have small scratches on covers, a bumped corner or two, or small dents on cover edges. Some vols. Have a small nick or chip on cover edge, spots on the spine, small stains on the covers, or a stain on the label. Vols. 15-22 & 30 have some pages that are uncut. V. 3: Last two pages have a tanned rectangle where a newspaper clipping was once stored. "Fold-out chart in rear contains the Forsyte Family Tree and was prepared by the author". V. 10: a frayed corner. V. 14: Short horizontal ridge in center of spine. V. 15: Small stain on top page edges. V. 23: Binding lightly cracked between pages 8 & 9. v. 30: Part of spine label is missing; no words affected. Overall, bindings tight. Hinges NOT cracked, except for front hinge of v.16 which is starting to crack at 3 small spots. Corners and spine ends very lightly bumped. Covers have light surface and edge wear. Pages very lightly and uniformly tanned but still supple. Pages clean and unmarked. No dust jackets. Details available upon request. This item will be shipped with signature confirmation required.

Attractively bound in recent brown half calf, red and black morocco labels, spines decorated with gilt centre tools, raised bands, marbled sides, cream endpapers, top edges gilt, others uncut. Photogravure frontispiece with tissue guard to each volume. Contents clean, spines ever so slightly rubbed. An excellent set.
