Description: Second volume in the incredible His Dark Materials series. Inscribed by the author 'To Travis' on title page. A well loved copy in blue boards and spine cloth with gilt to type. A fair amount of soiling to boards and some small moisture stains. Corners dinged with spots rubbed through to bottom ones. Some smudges, stains and marks to page ends, free endpapers and a few stray ones to text block. Moisture stains to bottom page ends at spine and bottom of rear hinge at endpapers. Jacket is unclipped with chips/tears/spots rubbed thorugh at spine ends and corners. General wear, scratches and creasing. 2ndPrinting

Description: Complete number line and stated First American edition in, pretty much, as new, unread condition. Signed by the author, name only, on a book plate which is stuck on the half title page. There is a red ink spot on the top page block edge (apparently as called for to indicate a signed copy.) The dust jacket is in equally excellent bright condition, not price clipped and now protected by a removeable clear sleeve. A wonderful signed copy.

Now protected in archival brodart jacket. The second entry in Pullman’s wildly successful, “His Dark Materials” trilogy.

One of Mr. Pullman’s custom Raven Bookplates, signed and inscribed To Michael, is loosely inserted. The jacket is now encased in an archival Brodart jacket protector. All our books ship bundled in multiple layers of bubble wrap inside a sturdy box.

Whilst Pullman has won the Carnegie Medal, the Guardian Children's Fiction Award, the Smarties Prize and Children's Book of the Year at the British Book Awards it was only the final instalment of the His Dark Materi als trilogy that seems to have garnered him the popular acclaim he undoubtedly deserves, also pleasing the critics as it won the Whitbred Book of the Year Prize - the first Children's book to do so. The trilogy has since been voted one of the top five books ever, by the British public in a national poll. A stage play has already appeared and the movie has already been commissioned with Tom Stoppard writing the screenplay.
