Publisher's own copy - printed after the colophon in this copy is ÔThis copy has been printed for Audrey Field.Õ 32 unnumbered pages. Finely printed in red, black, and blue on Barcham Green Medway paper at the Corvinus Press. Named for Matthias Corvinus, the bibliophile king of Hungary, the Press was to produce a series of books which are among the handsomest of the period and featured several by T E Lawrence. Bound in flexible leather lettered in gilt, ribbon ties both present. Provenance: Among the residual lots sold by Cheffins of Cambridge from Julians Park, a Hertfordshire estate and home to the family of Audrey Pleydell-Bouverie (1902-68), lady-in-waiting to the queen. She counted the likes of Cecil Beaton, Coco Chanel, Salvador Dalê and Fred and Adele Astaire in her social circle. As Audrey Field (her married name inthe 1930s) she was the owner of the Corvinus Press. Her brother was the wealthy surrealist Edward James. Printed after the colophon in this copy is ÔThis copy has been printed for Audrey Field.Õ Sunned at the plain spine very faint surface mottling and very slight rubbing else very good indeed in rather ued blue slip case laclking spine but o/w serviceable. Internally very fresh.
