With frequent in-text illustrations by the author's father John, as well as a frontispiece and a number of full page plates to volume I. Publisher's blue cloth with gilt titles to spine, and gilt decoration to spine and upper boards. All edges gilt; blue-grey endpapers. Some gentle, professional restoration to spines and hinges. Blind 'Presentation Copy' stamp to title page of first volume, with light occasional spotting throughout. Second volume shows moderate to heavy spotting throughout. Clean, attractive cloth showing a hint of toning to spine. Very good. The Jungle Book and its sequel comprise a selection of short storiesâ"the best-known being the three tales centring on the adventures of the abandoned 'man cub', Mowgli. Other popular tales include 'Rikki-Tikki-Tavi', the story of a heroic mongoose, and 'Toomai of the Elephants', the tale of a young elephant-handler.
