Signed by the author (full name, only) in green ink to the half-title page. There is intermittent underlining of the text in red ink. Greatly influenced by the line art of Ben Shahn, cover artist David Stone Martin (1913-1992) was best known for his illustrations on more than 400 jazz record albums, many of which were simply line art combined with a single color. 123 pp.

Description: First U.S. edition. With a presentation inscription from the author to Anthony Hobson. A fine copy in d/w, which has a little rubbing to the top edge but is in fact, about fine. Anthony Hobson was Graham Greens contact at Sothebys and they corresponded over the years beginning in 1962 and in 1964 Hobson organized the sale of Greens manuscripts. Their correspondence is now at Emory University Library.
