A very good copy in non-price-clipped dust wrapper, with a little fading to the publisher's red spine panel lettering, some internal spotting, and a little creasing to the base of the rear panel where it has been inexpertly re-shelved. Description: The First UK printing published by Hutchinson, London in 1986. The BOOK is in near Fine condition and appears unread. A hint of toning to the text-block. Free from inscriptions and internally clean. The WRAPPER is complete and is in near Fine condition. Very slight toning of the spine and upper rear edge but barely discernible. A hint of fading to the red lettering to the spine. The 'Booker Prize' shortlist wraparound Band is complete and is in Very Good++ or better condition with just a little fading of the yellow colouring to the plain spine portion. The wrapper is protected in a removable Brodart archival cover. The book has been signed (without dedication) by the author to the title page. The winner of the 1986 Booker Prize, with Amis having been shortlisted for the Booker Prize twice before, for 'Ending Up' (1974) and 'Jake's Thing' (1978).
