Signed by the author and dated June 25, 1965 on the title page. On the front pastedown there is an ink gift inscription from the Utah State Historical Society, dedicated to a leaving colleague. There is light overall wear to the boards; the dust jacket has chipping and closed tears, and fading to the spine.B&W Photographs & Illustrations.

Description: 316pp. Octavo [23.5 cm] Red cloth with black label on backstrip. Index. Bibliography. Very good. The spine is slightly rolled. The edges of the spine and covers are gently rubbed, and the bottom edges of the covers are just a tiny bit stained. The top edge of the text block is darkened and scratched, and the other edges have several small light stains. Gift inscription in ink on the front free endsheet. Sporadic small light stains on the pages. In a good dust jacket, with rubbing. The rear panel has numerous small light stains. The edges are creased and chipped and have multiple closed tears. The longer closed tears measure just over 1 inch long. Signed by the author on the title page. The classic treatment of a still-controversial part of Mormon and Western History.
