Price: US$1615.43 + shipping

Description: [Travel] LIMITED EDITION, designed by Robert Harling, with wood engravings by Reynolds Stone. No.75 of 950 copies, with publisher's compliments slip inserted, SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR. Large Octavo. pp. 37; [5], printed on cream wove paper. Type set in Eric Gill's Pilgrim and Perpetua fonts. Original red Buckram with gilt titles, and gilt 'QA' monogram to upper board, top edge red, other edges untrimmed. Illustrated dust-jacket priced at 15s. Book is clean, jacket gently toned to extremities. A fine copy of a finely produced book, from the publishing house run by Ian Fleming. Later owned by Fleming's bibliographer Jon Gilbert (also published by QAP). Waugh gives a short account of his travels in the Holy Land, seemingly a British colonial success story, towards the end of 1935 and shortly before the Arab Revolt. A superb edition, not to be confused with the regular American equivalent (1000 copies) issued in a smaller format, in association with the British Book Centre, NY, the following year. Gilbert, p.665.
