Description: Poe's timeless tale accompanied by the arresting work of Alice Neel produce an amazing edition of "The Fall of the House of Usher." Printed in an edition of 1500 copies by The Anthoensen Press of Portland, Maine, and bound by John V. Isakovics. Blindstamp at base of colophon indicating that this is one of 50 presentation copies that were "Out of Series" with no number. Signed by Raphael Soyer at the colophon. 32 pp. Folio. Burgundy leather spine with gold embossed titling to spine, leather edge applied to right edge of cover boards, unique. Marbled paper insets to cover boards, pristine within. Brown buckram covered boards with title embossed on cover, author to spine. "The Monthly Letter of The Limted Editions Club" for August 1985 is laid in. Housed in a black cloth clamshell box with a matching burgundy leather title patch with gold embossed titling on the cover, rear tray lined in crushed velvet and in overall Very Good condition due to light scuffing.

Edition limited to 1,500 numbered copies printed by The Anthoensen Press, signed by Raphael Soyer (see footnote) and the illustrator. LEC Bibliography 542. *With the Limited Editions Club Letter (Number 542) loosely inserted, giving details of this publication. The controversial New York painter Alice Neel died of cancer shortly before the official release of this book, and consequently many copies do not bear her signature. Raphael Soyer contributes a two page Artist's Tribute to her for this production.
