Description: Fine copy of a later issue of the 1st edition of TS Eliot's famous play of manners. Original cloth fine in fine dj under brodart mylar. Note signed boldly in ink on title page and dated by TS Eliot. This is after Eliot's Murder in the Cathedral, Eliot's most famous play, after his 1948 Nobel Prize for Literature. Note Betrand Russell met TS Eliot at Harvard in 1909, when TS was 20, and was so impressed with his vast and subtle intelligence, he wrote of him so memorably in his own autobiography.

According to Gallup, one of "not more than ten copies (at most)." were printed. The rest of the 10,000 copies printed were printed with the corrected cancel leaf. This ORIGINAL dustjacket is vibrant in color with NO chips or tears and has the publisher's $3.00 printed price present. The book is bound in the publisher's black cloth and is in excellent condition. The binding is tight with NO cocking or leaning and the boards are crisp.
