In color and black-and-white. Sixteen of the thirty-one cards (and accompanying text) appeared in appeared in "Sports Illustrated" prior to the publication of this title.

Laid in is a Gotham Book Mart and Dodd, Mead & Company post card invitation to the publication celebration, with Gorey's illustration titled 'Innocence, on a Bicycle of Propriety, carrying the Urn of Reputation safely over the Abyss of Indiscretion'. The post card is addressed and stamped, and has a small water spot and small hand stamp letters and numbers on the image. A crisp, as new copy, in dust-jacket and slipcase.
