Description: This is an inscribed copy of "The History of the Bunker Hill Monument Association During the First Century of the United States of America" by George Washington Warren. 1877 1st edition; James R. Osgood and Company; Boston. The book features a frontispiece engraving of the Battle of Bunker Hill, an engraved plate of "The Obelisk on a Platform," nine engraved portraits, and numerous "heliotypes" (including facsimile documents by Thomas Jefferson, Daniel Webster, Lafayette, James Madison, Henry Clay, James Monroe and others). The book contains an inscription from the author on the front end paper, as follows: "Honorable Eugene L. Norton With the Sincere Regards of The Author ~ Aug. 1878" (Norton was a Massachusetts politician who served in the 1850's and 1860's). Condition: There is a small, dark stain at the bottom-left corner of the front cover. Thin 2" scuff line at the left edge of the back cover. The maroon cloth at the spine has partially sun-faded. Cloth tears and small cloth bits missing at the top and bottom edges of the spine. There is a crack at the front hinge between the end paper and frontispiece resulting in the front cover being a bit shaky. Nice interior - the text pages are clean with no notable issues found. The tissue guard over the frontispiece has a 1" tear at the center. Author inscription in pen on a front end paper. Overall the book is in Good condition.
