Very minor flaking to front cover's green ruling, boards a touch bowed, else a Very Good to Near Fine copy. Signed by the illustrator on colophon.

Description: 1st thus 1914. Almost very good condition with no wrapper. Limited edition of 500 SIGNED by Hugh Thomson. White vellum, heavily decorated with gilt. 20 beautiful tipped-in colour plates. Top edges gilt. 235pp. 12.5 x 10". A very handsome book. SIGNED by Thomson. This is copy no. 148. Bumping to spine and corners. Covers are grubby and rear cover has a couple of marks. Creasing to front endpaper and prelims including mount and tissue guard for frontis but plate itself is not affected. Browning to endpapers. Some light page browning. Light foxing mostly to prelims and page edges and some fingering. One page and last tissue guard creased. Plates all present and in very good condition. Packaged with care and promptly dispatched!

This de luxe edition limited to 500 numbered copies (this copy is No. 151), signed by the artist. Large quarto (12 1/8 x 10 inches; 309 x 253 mm.) 234, [2] pp. Twenty mounted color plates including frontispiece, with titled and sketches on tissue guards. Black and white text illustrations. Original vellum on board. Front cover pictorially stamped and lettered profusely in gilt within a double gilt rule and a triple blue ruled borders. Spine decoratively stamped and lettered in gilt. Top edge gilt, yapped page edges, silk ties missing as is often the case. Watercolour artist & illustrator. HUGH THOMSON 1860-1920. Born at Coleraine, Co Derry, Ireland, came to prominence with his series of drawings of 18thc ballads & stories, most prolific 1900-1914 when his watercolour work was put to good use in the lavish colour gift books illustrating the classics.
