White cloth covered boards with gilt particulars to front cover and spine. 13 tipped-in colored plate, including the frontispiece and the plate facing page 16 titled Puck , which appears only in this edition. No tissue guards except opposite title page. Toning to spine (see image). Three of the four cloth ties are present despite wear. Top edge gilt. Previous owner's signed bookplate to blank fly. Description: First edition with these illustrations. Signed deluxe edition. Publisher's original white buckram with titles in gilt to the upper board and spine. Top edge gilt. All four original red cloth ties present as called for. Illustrated with 13 full page colour plates, two full page black and white illustrations, 20 chapter headings and 14 tail-pieces by Arthur Rackham. An excellent example, the binding square and firm with just a little light marking to the cloth. The contents, with some patina to the vellum endpapers, the bookplate of Amy Beatrice Huntington to the blank reverse of the front endpaper and another of H. C. Drayton opposite, are otherwise fine, clean and bright throughout. Housed is a bespoke blue cloth solander case. Limited to 750 copies of which this is hand numbered 178 and signed by Arthur Rackham on the limitation page. This deluxe edition contains an additional colour plate not included in the trade issue. Large volume measures apprx. 9" x 11 1/2" x 2 1/4" and weighes five lbs. Cream full-cloth buckram boards, crisp stylized gilt cover and spine titles, moderate shelf wear, discoloration, rub. Two of four original red silk ties incorporated into front and back covers remain. Bright gilded top edge. Illustrated endpapers at front and back in gilt of scenes in oval windows; moderate toning, discoloration. Frontispiece plate with cream border and perfect tissue guard intact: "Perdita". Title page text and illustration in gold. Features an additional dozen subtly rich mounted color plates with golden borders on thick matte. The plate of "Puck" at p. 16 is included only in this limited edition. Black & white vignettes, woodcuts, headers, and tailpieces throughout. Bind fine; hinges intact.
