Description: Forgery by Eugene Field Jr. signed mother's name (Julia S. Field) on front end paper and Mark Twains signature. S. L. Clemens (Mark Twain) on title page. Eugene Field, Jr. sold most of his father's books after his father's death in 1895. When those books ran out, he started to invent books from his father's library. A great example of his forgery is found here in this book. Travels at Home is Selected from the works of Mark Twain by Percival Chubb. First Edition, Very Good++ condition. Small Octavo, 143 pages. Frontis portrait of Twain and 7 plates. Original pea green cloth decorated in dark green. Cloth lightly soiled and worn, some black ink spatter across front. Spine is rubbed and faded, slight damage to top and bottom. No dust jacket.
