Grahame, Kenneth. (Text) Hague, Michael. (Illustrations). THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS.. HOLT, RINEHART AND WINSTON., NY, 1980.

Price: US$750.00 + shipping

Condition: Near Fine

Description: First Edition of the Michael Hague illustrated edition. A uncommon advance salesman's dummy designed for the publisher's sales force prior to publication for purposes of promoting the book. This copy is INSCRIBED on the front endpaper by Michael Hague 3 months prior to publication to an individual involved in the marketing of the book. Near fine in a Vg.+ dj. (Dj. has a 1 1/2"-inch tear at the head of the rear panel, with some smaller edge tears & shallow chipping to spine ends) A remarkable production, involving the hand pasting of full-color illustrations onto the pages in the text. Some of the larger illustrations appear uncropped, as opposed to their slightly dimminshed size in the published format. A few of the smaller images at the beginning of the text have become detached and are laid-in. A little less than half the text is present, though not represented in chronological order. The remaining portion is blank. It is unlikely that more than a few copies were produced. Michael Hague's FIRST and most enduring book project.; Signed by Author(s)
