Description: First edition 1938. Presentation copy as follows "To E. F. Usborne whose daring voyages have inspired many to seek similar adventure & especially his obliged servant Quintin (Riley), Christmas, 1938". Quintin Riley was the meteorologist on the expedition and he is mentioned throughout the book. A portrait of him is included on the plate opposite page 27. Some foxing throughout. There is a largish ink splodge on page 24 obscuring part of a couple of words. Some light thumbing in places. Publishers coarse green cloth slightly dusty, darkened, and with some light marking, generally a very good solid copy. A interesting presentation copy. 296 p.
