Description: DOUBLE SIGNED. 143pp. Folio [35 cm] Tan cloth with white ink stamped titles on front board and backstrip. Illustrated. Bibliography. The covers are ever so slightly cocked. In the dust jacket with subtle toning, mild edge wear, and very light soiling to the rear panel. Photographs by Philip Hyde. Beautifully illustrated with photographs of the wide open spaces of Utah's slickrock country. Published three years after Abbey's classic of environmental and wilderness literature "Desert Solitaire." This copy is inscribed by Edward Abbey on the title page: "To Bruce / and the good ol' Cosmick Airyplane / - yr friend Ed Abbey / SLC / 11-29-88." Additionally inscribed by Philip Hyde on the verso of the front free endpaper: "To Bruce and the future / of the Lazy A**hole / Philip Hyde / Salt Lake City Aug. 1979." The book is inscribed to Bruce Roberts, a partner in the Salt Lake City bookstore Cosmic Aeroplane. The "alternative" bookstore opened in 1967 and closed in 1991.
