Condition: As New

Description: 25th Anniversary edition / First printing with a new introduction by the author. Signed by the author. Black cloth spine, black paper-covered boards, xiii, 205 pages. Very fine in fine dust jacket. The author's breakthrough masterpiece. After twenty years of struggling for critical and popular success, this book gave him the audience and recognition he had sought. The horrific firebombing of Dresden, which he witnessed as a POW, shocked Vonnegut into a lifelong distrust of the senseless and amoral violence of all war. Number 18 on Modern Library's Best 100 Novels. A classic of counter-culture literature.

Description: Signed by Vonnegut on the first front end paper. Kurt Vonnegut was a native of Indianapolis, Indiana, and a graduate of Cornell. In World War II he was taken prisoner by the Germans at the Battle of the Bulge. His first novel, Player Piano, came out in 1952 but he struggled as a writer until he achieved great success in 1969 with Slaughterhouse-Five, which is considered one of the world's great antiwar books, per the dust jacket. "This novel centers on the infamous fire-bombing of Dresden, Billy Pilgrim's odyssey through time reflects the mythic journey of our own fractured lives as we search for meaning in what we are afraid to know."
