Bourke-White arrived in Moscow in May, 1941 two months prior to Germany invasion of the Soviet Union launched in late June of 1941. The Hitler fantasy was entitled Barbarossa. Maggie a graduate of Cornell in 1929 was the only non-Russian to be awarded a photographer's "passport".
