At the time, Herman (1929 - 2016) was a professor at University of Maryland, where he lectured on the Arthurian Legend. With AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED by Heaney on Harvard University letterhead dated "I. V. '91" laid in: "In haste - just back from a few days in Oxford. Hope this won't be too late. Seamus Heaney." Book is fine in fine dust jacket. Letter has crease where folded in half but is otherwise fine.
