Description: Color plates, oblong 10 x 11", cloth, 135pp, covers soiled. Jim Harrison writes "In Chatham's best work the painting is so inconsolably austere and authoritative that we have a choice of turning away or temporarily losing our personalities, the latter which, I propose, is the main reason for enduring a work of art: to briefly abandon ourselves to another, perhaps higher reality; then to return to ourselves, having added dimension to our consciousness of the nature of life". FIRST EDITION, SIGNED BY CHATHAM.
