Description: Wide clothbound quarto in dustwrapper. Unpaginated. Brief introductory text by Tice. Glorious black and white photographs of the town of Paterson, NJ and environs. First edition of one of the author's earliest monographs. With light soiling and rubbing near the base of the spine, else a sound very good copy. The photo-illustrated dustwrapper shows some creasing and wear at the same area near base of spine. This copy hails from the library of gallerist Lee Witkin with his printed sticker afixed to the inside front pastedown. Tice has INSCRIBED THIS COPY TO WITKIN and dated his inscription in 1972, the year of publication. A significant association copy. Through Witkin's gallery Tice issued his first portfolios and began to experiment with platinum printing. Witkin was also involved in the creation of Bodie, another early portfolio of Tice's wherein Witkin provided the introduction. Patterson was awarded the Grand Prix du Festival d'Arles.
