Publisher's gray green pictorial cloth stamped in dark green on front cover, gilt spine, top edge gilt. An early presentation copy inscribed on the front free endpaper: "J. Lewis Stackpole with the kind regards of his friend and neighbor Oliver Wendell Holmes. November 30th 1887". The spine is moderately darkened with fading to gilt lettering, front and back endpapers are toned and lightly dust soiled, a very good copy. *BAL* 9006.
