Sunning to spine, a few scuff marks on both covers. In publisher's first state dust jacket, likely paired with this book, $2.50 on front flap, portrait of Roosevelt on back panel with no reviews, light toning to spine, bright illustrations on covers. (Halter T-585) This copy was a gift for Charles Lambert Heyniger, Secretary of the Industrial Advisory Board of the NRA and future Headmaster of The Darrow School in New Lebanon, NY. Additional signatures include John J. Raskob, builder of the Empire State Building; Solomon Barkin, a labor economist and professor at the University of Massachusetts; Carroll H. Description: A dummy copy with half-title, title page with copyright on verso, a printed explanatory page, an excerpt from Chapter 7, a printed statement of upcoming publication, and several pages of order forms. The bulk of the full-sized book is composed of blank pages. The front endpaper contains a written statement initialed "JB" and dated 1 April 1934 stating the book is an "Autographed Copy." Perhaps an April Fool's joke? Without the number "1" on the copyright page and the front dustwrapper flap, both previously believed to be points for the first printing but which should now be questioned as this copy came out before the book was officially published. Near Fine in a Very Good or better dustwrapper with foxing to the front panel

(Halter T-585) Includes note of provenance from the recipient, Rachel Schrider, a Civil Service employee working in the White House File Room. Inscribed on the front endpaper: "For Rachel Lake Van Gasken / Merry Christmas from Franklin Roosevelt / 1934." The recipient of this book, Rachel V. Schrider (née Van Gasken), served in the White House from 1932-1962, working in various positions within the Civil Service Department. She died at the age of 98 in 2004.

Description: Signed by Franklin Delano Roosevelt on the front free endpaper, with first issue errors on page X, 13 and 162 hand-corrected in ink by Roosevelt. First edition. Bound in publisher's blue cloth with gilt stamping, now oxidized. Very Good with light wear to binding, small stain to fore edge of first several pages. In a Very Good unclipped first issue dust jacket spine-sunned, rubbed, and worn along edges with two tape repairs made to the blind side. A nice signed copy of FDR's New Deal manifesto.
