Description: Publisher's decorated green cloth stamped in brown and silver. SIGNED by the book's most famous contributor "Truly yours, Mark Twain" on the first blank. BAL 3437: Fourth Printing. Contains the first appearance of Twain's "Extracts from Adam's Diary, Translated from the Original MS," on pages [93]-109. This copy also has an AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED from each of three of the other contributors--David Day, Edward Martin, and Peter Porter--laid in. Also laid in is an old catalogue description from Charles Sessler, Bookseller. The endpapers and preliminaries, including the front blank with Twain's signature, have been strengthened with Japanese tissue paper in the gutters. The Porter letter detached at one fold but all present. Spine a little darkened, still a bright copy. Near Fine
