Description: Hardcover. Faded ivory cloth with green decoration and red lettering. Cover is worn and faded and a bit splotchy. Binding tight, though. Green endpapers. Original ownership gift inscription dated Xmas 1881 (non-authorial). No date on the title page. 48 pages. Engraved and printed by Edmund Evans using his distinctive color method. Greenaway's charming and colorful plates on ever page, each within green border. The pages are faded from age and many have smudges and thumbing on the borders. Binding tight. Early bookseller note in pencil on the table of contents page notes that it is 1st printing, 2nd issue, printed in 1881, with an extra plate. The extra plate is a cutout of Humpty Dumpty (page 37) pasted to a stiff black card. Beneath the plate is a cut signature of Kate Greenaway in pencil, pasted on the same card.
