Description: Yellow and blue cloth. Tall quarto. 75pp. Copy # 38 of 500 copies signed by the author. A collection of nude portraits of women models with humorous commentary by the artist. Sir William Russell Flint (1880-1969) was a Scottish artist and illustrator who was known especially for his watercolor paintings of women. A very good, clean copy with some light wear to the spine tips. The text is very good and clean. There is a tiny chip to the bottom of the front flyleaf.

Description: SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR - TOGETHER WITH A FULL PAGE LETTER WHICH IS ALSO SIGNED : This a very good copy- tad dusty, secure, if showing a slight centre hinge strain - not at all affecting the tightness of the binding, no loose pages etc. Limited edition No: 311/500 copies, Signed by Russell Flint. Laid in is a full page letter to 'Emmanuel' where he talks about his involvement in the production of the book itself, this is dated 23.11.51 and is Signed W. Russell Flint. " Dear Emmanuel, Many thanks for cheque £5.07 + voucher on Caldbeck Avenue Mortgage. I'm so glad you like my little 'Models of Propriety'. Of course it is all entirely my own - all except the few poetical quotations, those which acknowledged. It was my "escape" when my wife was ill. The entire layout, choice of type, binding, wrapper + arrangement of every page is mine. I had the letter press set up + the photogravures made at my own expense. By chance Michael Joseph saw text only + offered to take over all my commitments + publish it, giving me a good royalty. I agreed + it was "out of print" on publication date. Description: An INSCRIBED UK first edition, first impression. THE WRAPPER : The wrapper on this copy is bright and complete. It has been clipped. The front panel is bright and unfaded, showing rubbing at each of the corners. The spine is lightly faded and scuffed at the ends and to the main body. The back panel is sound, showing light soiling and wear at the top edge. Looks sharp in protective plastic. THE BOOK : The book is square and very tight. There are no previous ownership inscriptions. The boards are very clean. The spine ends are gently bruised. The pages are clean. No foxing. The closed page edges are dulled. The binding is tight, the hinges are solid. First Edition of the Artist's celebrated work with a Signed letter from him, on His Headed Notepaper, in response to a congratulatory letter sent to him on his Knighthood and dated June 1947. The letter is in a cellophane wrapper which has been cellotaped to the reverse of the half title page. VG+/VG (book- no other previous owner name or inscription to book. Light offset browning to end-papers. No other notable faults. Dust Jacket- price clipped, a little rubbed with chips at extremities and some modest shelf soiling to rear panel.
