Condition: Fine

Description: Signed and inscribed by author A.A. Milne on ffep to his early supporter, longtime friend, and sometimes correspondent Victor (Seligman). This presentation copy seems to be only the third that Milne bestowed as can be deduced from the inscription above his signature: "Vincent's copy of the play, of whose first audience he was a distinguished third." There were a total of 260 signed copies of this play, the London stage production of which starred Herbert Marshall and his wife, Edna Best. This early edition precedes the signed and numbered edition. It is a very scarce item (only a half-dozen signed, especially in this condition, and due to its personal connection to the author. Even the paper spine title is bright and intact after ninety-one years. Milne was a noted writer, primarily as a playwright, before the huge success of his books about the teddy bear Winnie-the-Pooh and for various children's poems. Fine, first British edition, first printing in brown cloth boards, in fine glassine dust cover. L105
