Siegfried Sassoon. MEMOIRS OF A FOX-HUNTING MAN. London: Faber and Gwyer Ltd., 1928.

Price: US$950.00 + shipping

Condition: Very Good

Description: 6 x 9 in. 395 pp. Blue cloth boards with gilt lettering on spine. A limited, signed edition on hand-made paper of 260, of which this is number 202. Condition of the book is VERY GOOD+ ; just the merest hint of shelf wear, covers extraordinarily clean and unblemished. Spine is sunned. Binding is tight and hinges have no play whatsover. The text is bright, clean and unmarked, with just a hint of foxing to the endpapers. Included is a 4 1/2 x 7 inch loose page of hand-laid paper with ink sketches of WWI officers, which was in this book when we bought it. I can't prove that they are by Sassoon, but they bear a striking similarity to a few others I researched online, notably sketches on letters from the front, circa 1917. See photograph provided and decide for yourself. A lovely copy of this rare and cherished book, with a likely terrific bonus in the sketch. Sport/Memoir. RGR.
