Description: The boards are beveled and covered in gray cloth. The front endpaper has a pictorial map of San Domingo, Haiti. The back endpaper has a pictorial map of the north and south boundaries of the Mediterranean Sea. The author's signature is on the limitation page; # 665/1050. A frontal matter page states, " Page from working manuscript of Lydia Bailey. The page is folded and has handwriting in pencil on one side and typed text on the other side. Two places of glue have darkened on the page where the paper used to be tipped-in. The folded paper has chips where there was formerly glue. The frontispiece is a small, tipped-in portrait. The top end of the text block has gilt. The other two text block ends have darkened. The foredge has a little foxing. The spine strip has darkened in a mottled fashion. The boards have foxing; the darkest is on the top and bottom ends. An owner's name is on the top margin of the front map. One page's bottom margin has a small stain. One page has a translation in pencil of two lines of a song. Scans e-mailed upon request.

The book is contained within a very good+ original, paper covered slipcase with minor wear at the corners. Signed by the author and numbered 191 out of 1,050 copies. What makes this limited edition particularly unique is that laid-in at its front is a page from Robert's, typewritten working manuscript complete with his penciled annotations and corrections. This particular page is quite unique. The typewritten side is completed crossed-out in pencil and the verso side of the page is entirely in pencil by the author which is quite unusual! An extremely attractive copy with a very unusual page from his manuscript.
