Spine in six compartments, intricately gilt; morocco lettering labels, gilt; gilt rules on the boards and gilt inner dentelles. All edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. Faint trace of rubbing at the hinges and darkening along the top else this is a near fine copy. Illustrated with twenty-one colored plates by Cruikshank, along with twenty-two vignettes of wood engraving. Tipped onto a preliminary blank is a card beaing the bold signature of George Cruikshank dated June 14, 1869. First state. The binder's leaf bears the 'Marchant' imprint at the bottom. Cohn #109.
