Book is lightly soiled on the spine (just affecting the P and H of Philip). Jacket lightly toned and edgeworn, with a few short closed tears to the spine ends and top edge of the front panel, and accompanying creasing. A presentable copy of the author's second book.

Description: Very good plus first edition book in very good plus dust jacket. Signed by the author on the half-title page. Blue cloth covered boards with author's initials and graphics blind-stamped on front panel. Black cloth covered spine with gild and purple text and graphics. Front board panel has small stain near the upper edge else boards are clean but darkened around extremities. Text and graphics on spine are lightly rubbed but very legible. Tail of board spine has 1/2" open slit on the lower edge. Upper fore-edge corner on rear panel has small bump. Minimal rubs on lower fore-edge corner tips. Previous owner's book plate on front paste down else book is internally clean. Book is lightly shaken but text block is sound. Dust jacket shows shelf-wear soil against the white lettering on front panel and white background of back panel. Edges along head and tail of jacket spine are similarly chipped and creased. Head of spine has several closed vertical tears of 1/8" or less; tail has one closed vertical tear of 3/8" and several smaller tears. All fore-edge corners are rubbed with loss of up to 1/8". Fore-edge folds are creased. Back spine fold has 1/4" closed slit half way down. Not price clipped. Please use close-up options for best inspection and in support of condition description. Description: Stated second printing. The author's second book, an ambitious 630 pp novel. INSCRIBED by the author and dated in 1965. Quite scarce thus. The black clothbound book is in very good condition. The unclipped dustwrapper is quite worn with several chips to edges and overall wear. But an easy jacket to upgrade. Early inscriptions by Roth are not easily found.
