Condition: Near Fine

Description: First edition. Perfectbound in wrappers. Light rubbing, else fine. Inscribed: "Observed by A.G. Revised our footprint on Buddha in Bodhgaya 1962-3. Allen Ginsberg for Elbert Lenrow Oct 7, 1980." Lenrow was a professor at the New School who became friends with Jack Kerouac while he was still a student. Kerouac in turn introduced him to Allen Ginsberg and Neal Cassidy, who would often gather at Lenrow's Central Park West apartment for informal discussions about life and literature. He later penned a book about his friendship with Kerouac and remained in contact with Ginsberg until Lenrow's death in 1993. A nice association.
