From the Foreword by Lord Lonsdale: "Few illustrations of American hunting have ever been published; hence, the reproductions in these pages of original paintings are of unusual interest; together with the diagrams and illustrations depicting the development of the Chase both in the Old World and the New, they form a new collection of no small merit, and a book of great value to those who hunt in America". The Derrydale Press was established in 1927 by Connett III. An important publisher of outdoor books for a North American audience, the Derrydale Press is known for producing iconic books on the outdoors as well as hunting, fishing, horse sports, hiking, and sporting art. At the time Connett founded the press, it was the only publisher exclusively devoted to outdoor materials in the world.
