Signed by author at bottom of blank page facing title page, "Dr. Seuss- Nov. 2-1956". 200/200 price intact on dj. Nearly identical to the 1st printing except for 200 price instead of 150, lack of stating first edition and new address for Random House at bottom of rear dj. One of Dr Seuss's most loved books in unusually nice condition with a neat autograph with date.

Younger & Hirsch 31. Quarto. Original grey buckram sides, rebacked with a grey morocco spine, front cover lettered in red. Illustrated throughout by Dr. Seuss Neat child's ownership inscription of one Susan Ellsworth to front pastedown. Minor rubbing to edges, offsetting to endpapers, contents a little toned, a very good copy indeed.

This First Issue dustjacket has the important First Issue point with 20 East 57th Street address printed on the back panel of the dustjacket that was changed to 457 Madison Ave on later editions. The front and back flap of the dustjacket also has the $1.50 publisher's price present. This ORIGINAL dustjacket is rich in color with some repair. The book is in excellent condition and is bound in the publisher's grey cloth. The pages are clean with NO writing, marks or bookplates in the book. A fabulous copy of this TRUE FIRST EDITION with the words "FIRST PRINTING" printed on the copyright page. We buy SIGNED Seuss First Editions.
