After the shocking revelations in "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy," Smiley is tasked with rebuilding the British intelligence agency, known as the Circus. The story follows Jerry Westerby, a journalist-turned-spy, as he embarks on a dangerous mission to uncover a massive money laundering operation in Southeast Asia. As Westerby navigates a treacherous landscape of international intrigue, he becomes entangled in a web of politics, espionage, and personal betrayals. Le Carré masterfully explores the complexities of loyalty and the high stakes of intelligence operations in this compelling and thought-provoking novel.
