Description: A stunning first printing of the first American edition [Random House NY (1959)], signed by author James A Michener directly on the title page. The book is in exceptionally fine condition with no remainder marks, a tight and square binding, with no owner inscriptions or highlighting and no staining or marking. The dust jacket is in near fine condition, not price-clipped ($6.95), with some creases and short closed tears at the extremities and some shelf wear. It is now protected by an archival cover which is easily removable. Book will be shipped fully insured and will require signature on delivery. Very Good with foxing to cloth, textblock edges and endsheets, lightly dust soiled. Front hinge slightly tender; small bookseller's ticket to front free endpaper. In a Very Good unclipped dust jacket with uneven toning to spine, edges and rear flap, vertical crease to spine and rear extending the entirety. Michener's episodic historical novel published the same year Hawaii became a state.
