Description: First edition thus. Illustrated by John Vassos. Small quarto. 102pp. Leather-backed patterned papercovered boards with spine titling and topedge gilt. Attractive pictorial bookplate of former owner ("Florence Henderson") on the front pastedown, along with a brief 1929 gift inscription. Binding is edgeworn, worn through in several places, with a bit of loss at the crown and upper shoulder, hinges starting a bit but holding, about very good; interior is otherwise fine. One of 200 copies Signed by Vassos on the limitation page. John Vassos (1898-1985), Greek-American artist, was born in Romania to Greek parents; he emigrated to Boston in 1919. He studied at Boston's Fenway Art School and the Art Student's League of New York. He is noted for his art deco graphic and industrial design, including a turnstile for subway stations, cabinets for RCA first television sets, as well as his illustrations for several publications from 1927 to 1935, including a few titles by Oscar Wilde.

Description: 102pp. Small quarto [24 cm] 1/2 black leather over gray illustrated boards. Title gilt stamped on backstrip. Bright pink endsheets. Heavy rubbing to extremities, corners exposed, 1" loss to spine at head, toning and light wear to boards; hinges cracked (but holding), ink name on front pastedown, light spotting to endpapers, light foxing to half-title and rear flyleaf, else interior is clean and lightly toned.
