Description: First edition, fifth printing, inscribed by Thompson in gold marker to the flyleaf and dated on the front pastedown – "To Fadi / How'd you do it? Thanks in advance. Sangre por Sangre." A fantastic inscription on Thompson's noted collection of essays from 1956 to the end of the 1970s, the first of what would become four volumes in The Gonzo Papers series. New York: Summit Books, 1979. Quarter black cloth over black paper boards, spine lettered in gilt; pp. 602. A near fine copy in an about very good, price-clipped dust jacket. Binding remains tight, sturdy and square with minimal wear to boards. Erasure marking to flyleaf corner, else internally clean. Jacket shows shelfwear and rubbing with a couple closed tears.

This copy has a full-page inscription by Thompson, "To Tony-Happy Birthday & thanx for the whiskey.see you in Idaho Springs. Be careful, yr. friend H. S. Thompson. San Francisco, July 19, 84." The book is housed in an attractive black cloth clamshell box with a morocco spine label made by Dragonfly Bindery.
