Thompson on front free endpaper and paste down in gold sharpie in the year of publication, inscribed to Bill Dixon, "The Admiral," George McGovern and Gary Hart's campaign manager: "To the Admiral -- I told you it was wrong. Yr. friend [signed] HST, Owl Farm ~ Sept 11, 88." The two became friends in 1972 and corresponded for deacdes. Dixon is quoted on pages 241 and 249 of this book as well as on p. 309 of the expanded paperback edition in the essay "The New Dumb." 304 pp. Bound in publisher's red boards with navy cloth backstrip, lettered in silver. Fine in Fine dust jacket. A great association copy.
