Description: 8vo, blue linen lettered in gilt, Illustrated with black and white photographs, 180 pp. Spine a bit yellowed, light edge wear, slight aging; otherwise very good.This copy is inscribed and signed by the author on the front free endpaper. Carpenter (1877-1949) was born in Wiles-Barr, Pennsylvania, and would become prominent industrialist. As an executive for DuPont helped turn the company into a modern scientific company, and diversify from gunpowder and explosives. He was also an avid hunter and big game hunter, and a member of the Boone and Crockett Club. As a director of the Philadelphia Academy of Natural Sciences he went on many trips to Africa to collect big game animals for the museum's dioramas. Game Trails from Alaska to Africa covers Carpenter's hunting trips from 1933 to 1938. He discussion includes hunting, Pronghorn in Wyoming, Mountain Lion in Arizona, and Jaguar in Mexico.
