Description: 861 pages. First edition later printing with NO "A" but publishers seal on the copyright page. Inscribed by Jones on the 1st sheet. Winner of the National Book Award in 1951 and Basis for the 1953 film directed by Fred Zinneman starring Burt Lancaster, Montgomery Clift and Frank Sinatra. Very good book with the spine gilt lettering worn in a near fine dust jacket with light rubbing to the front fold and corners. First state dust jacket with $4.50 price and Jones's photo on rear panel. A very nice copy!

Description: Early reprint. A poor copy with chipping at the crown, lacking the dustwrapper. Inscribed by the author: "For the Mullany Ladies - This one's been around a long time. Love, James Jones. Paris 7 December 1973 (32 years later)." Jones' writing skill surpassed his math skill, as the book was inscribed 22, not 32, years later. The author's first novel, winner of the National Book Award and basis for the Academy Award-winning film with Burt Lancaster, Deborah Kerr, Montgomery Clift, Donna Reed, and Frank Sinatra.

Description: Very near fine in black cloth covered boards with rubbed and worn gilt text stamping on the spine. There is a prior owner's address label on the limitation page. In a very good-, unclipped dust jacket with very heavy wear and rubbing to the folds to the flaps, very shallow chipping across the upper edge of the spine area, a 2 inch closed tear from the upper edge of the spine area running down the fold to the front panel and the rear panel is heavily tanned. A presentation edition signed by the author on the limitation page and with this copy identified as number 954. The author's first book and the winner of the National Book Award. The book was made into a motion picture in 1953 and it won an Academy Award for Best Picture.
