Very good. No other signatures or bookplates. Signed and inscribed by Zane Grey to friends Phillips Carlin and Claire Wilhelm Carlin on front endpaper in is signature purple ink: "To Phil and Claire from an old friend, Zane Grey." Zane Grey had a romantic involvement with Claire prior to her marriage to Carlin.

Filmed twice by Paramount Pictures, originally in 1926 as a silent film, directed by John Waters, with Jack Holt; and in 1937, directed by Charles Barton, with Buster Crabbe and June Martel. Book with faint rubbing to extremities and light age-toning to endpapers, else in fine condition; dust jacket with a few closed tears with associated creases, moderate paper loss, primarily to corners and spine ends, and some soiling to rear panel, else fine.
