Description: Arkham House, Sauk City, Wisconsin, 1944. First Edition/Printing black cloth Hardcover with DJ, xiii + 344 pp. The fifth Arkham House book; limited to 1617 copies. SIGNED "Sincerely, Donald Wandrei" by the co-founder of Arkham House on the ffep. Wandrei selected his best 21 eerie stories (horror, fantasy, SF) for this, his first fiction book. The price-clipped DJ is Brodart-protected. Very good to good DJ has mild patchy rubbing and toning to spine; 2 small chips missing: at top corner of DJ back (1/4"); and a narrow 1/8" strip at top of spine. Book has my name-stamp on front pastedown (beneath DJ flap) but otherwise a solid, unmarked, very good to near fine copy. Purchased from Richard Miller (San Diego, CA) in March, 1982.
